  3. List 3-5 topics for your persuasive essay
  4. (make sure there is enough information about your topic)

Tuesday, January 12
  1. Reading log due tomorrow
  2. Unit 8 vocabulary pgs. 94 &96 due tomorrow
  3. Select one topic for your persuasive essay and write a
  4. supported thesis statement, or "reasons list" for tomorrow

Example: Corporal punishment must be outlawed in all states immediately because it is psychologically damaging, it is physically abusive, and it is not effective as a punishment.

Thursday, January 14
  1. Unit 8 vocabulary test tomorrow
  2. Gather facts, statistics, and examples to support your thesis statement. Cite at least 3 sources on your source information forms (you may take notes in bullets on the back of the source you got the information from)
  3. Outline of persuasive essay due tomorrow. Make sure it is neat.
Example: Corporal punishment must be outlawed in every school in the U.S. at once because it is detrimental to the students both physically and psychologically, it is ineffective as a punishment, and it is unethical.
